    Dear Friends:
    
            Today marks exactly one month since
    Algeria Watch International publicly announced its creation.
    Our aim in establishing AWI has been first and foremost to
    provide a vehicle to all those who believe that the Algerian
    tragedy must come to an end at once, and that the world at
    large must turn its full attention to the horrible
    plight suffered by the Algerian people.  As the massacres
    in Algeria continue to mount, it is now more than ever our
    responsibility to do whatever we can, little as we may think it
    is, to stir the conscience of the world into a concerted effort to
    bring a stop to the killings.
    
    Since our establishment, we have begun accumulating information, 
    establishing contacts, and organizing ourselves to
    better achieve the goals of AWI's mission.  But the success of
    this effort will depend totally on YOUR involvment.  
    Many times you have expressed your anger and frustration 
    in the face of the horrible news coming from our country.  
    Here is a chance to do something more than vent anger: here 
    is a chance for us to patiently build together something 
    meaningful.
    
    As a member of AWI, you will have a very specific
    task to fulfill, and you will be required to do only 
    as much as you are able to. For example:
    
             * You may choose to be our monitor of
             what the US Congress has to say about 
             Algeria.  Your task then becomes checking,
             whenever you can, the US congress's WEB
             site: www.house.gov
    
             * Or you may choose to be our monitor of
             what the US senate has to say about Algeria.   
             Your task in that case would be to regularly 
             check www.senate.gov
    
    
             * Or you may choose to be our monitor of
             what the White House has to say about 
             Algeria.  Your task in that case would be
            to regularly check www.whitehouse.gov
    
    
    Any of these tasks probably take no more than
    fifteen minutes a day of your time!
    
    Algeria Watch International has dozens of open
    positions such as these waiting for you.  By 
    working together, each doing a small part,
    there is no limit to how far we can go.
